Resum
Natural fibers plasma treated are used to prepare biocomposites with expanded starch. Sugarcane and coconut natural fibers were treated in a tubular plasma reactor and the surface energy for these treated and non-treated fibers were evaluated. Expanded starch composites were prepared by extrusion in a twin-screw extruder with both kinds of fibers. Mechanical properties such as tensile strength and resilience, water absorption and morphology were evaluated for these composites.
