Resum
The development of increasingly efficient and of higher capacity power storage systems, have changed the technological fundamentals of the electric system. The intermittence in the production from renewable energy sources, which was a brake to its consolidation as priority sources, is resolved using over time the energy previously generated. It represents a significant boost for distributed generation.
However, the sector regulation is still, mostly, based on the logic of a centralized system. The transition from one (centralized) to another (distributed) should not forget the advantages of scale economies that the existing grid allows.
