Resum

Two significant changes in the structure of law studies and access to the higher levels of the legal profession are being rolled out in Spain at the same time: the implementation of university curricula formulated in accordance with the Bologna model (E.H.E.S.) and the entry into force of the access to the legal profession act, Law 34/2006. This piece discusses the combined result of these two innovations critically, considering this result to be substantially deficient, compares their contents with what is happening in other European countries within the same legal family and those which use common law, formulates the basic principles towards which the Spanish system should lean and suggests the alternatives which would, on a transitory basis, remedy the disadvantage at which it is placed.
