Resum

Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between adherence to the Mediterranean diet pattern and the presence of depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms, as well as to assess its relationship with sex and age. Methods: A total of 518 individuals (61.20% women and 38.80% men) completed an online survey that assessed various sociodemographic variables and included the Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener (MEDAS) and the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21). Results: There is a statistically significant negative correlation between adherence to the Mediterranean diet pattern and the presence of depression symptoms (r=-0.148, p < 0.001), anxiety (r=-0.XXX, p < 0.001), and stress (r=-0.182, p < 0.001). The results also revealed a statistically significant relationship between adherence to the Mediterranean diet pattern and the variables age (r= 0.176, p < 0.001) and gender (X2= 7.25, p < 0.001). Conclusion: The results suggest that the Mediterranean diet has a protective effect against the presence of depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms.
