Resum

Telefonica in the 70s, the PTT of Spain, which operated as a monopoly, began an institutional transformation due to the commitment to the transmission of data by switching packets. The study has been carried out from the perspective of institutional logic, to understand the effects of technological change based on the elements that shape the structure of the company, considering the process that led to the creation of a new methodology with the creation of the Computer Department, with its own institutional logic, foreign to Telefonica's Central Departments. With this strategy it became the world's first operator, which commercially offered this service to its customers.
