Description
This research proposal is framed within the broader context of digital transformation on societal impact and its implications for sustainable innovation management. At the heart of this transformation lies AI and other disruptive technologies, which have the potential to rethink management practices and societal impact. This project aims to contribute to the theoretical and practical understanding of how emerging technologies can be leveraged to promote sustainable development and drive innovation in diverse economic, managerail, and institutional contexts.
The key objectives are:
1. Advance the understanding of how disruptive digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Fintech, Big Data, IoT, and Quantum Computing are reshaping management theories and practices in the pursuit of sustainability. The research will examine their implications for competitiveness, business models, innovation strategies, project management and the creation of long-term societal value across startups, SMEs, large corporations, and research centers.
2. Foster an international and interdisciplinary research network of higher education alliances that connects academic institutions, industry stakeholders, and innovation ecosystems. On the one side (2.1), this network will promote collaborative projects addressing the role of digital transformation in achieving sustainable growth and practical relevance of the research outcomes. On the other side (2.2), the research outcomes have to participate in rethinking the learning practices on technology impact.
3. Leverage the diverse expertise of the research team—spanning fields such as strategy, entrepreneurship, project management, information systems, and innovation—to explore the intersection of digital transformation and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This interdisciplinary approach will provide actionable insights for building more resilient, sustainable, and innovation-driven ecosystem.

Objective 1. Advance the understanding of how disruptive digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, IoT, and Quantum Computing are reshaping management theories and practices in the pursuit of sustainability.
The research will examine their implications for competitiveness, innovation strategies, business models, rethinking supply chain management models, and value creation across startups, SMEs, large corporations, and research centers.
Activities:
1. Organize scoping workshops to refine key research questions and identify conceptual and empirical opportunities (personal substitut per intensificació PDI).

4. Analyze the impact of disruptive technologies on competitiveness, business models, and innovation ecosystems (personal substitut per intensificació PDI).
5. Investigate societal, regulatory, and political implications of emerging technologies across contexts (personal substitut per intensificació PDI).
6. Examine processes of value creation in startups, SMEs, corporations, and research institutions adopting digital technologies (personal substitut per intensificació PDI).

Objective 2. Foster an international and interdisciplinary research network of higher education alliancesc connecting academic institutions, industry stakeholders, and innovation ecosystems.
This network will drive collaborative projects on digital transformation for sustainable growth, while enhancing the global impact and visibility of the research.
