Description
This project aims to respond to the urgent need to train young people to be active protagonists of digital evangelisation, especially in the face of the growing disengagement of young people from the Catholic Church, highlighted at the last Synod and in Christus vivit. It is recognised that evangelisation in the digital environment is essential today, given the deep integration of this reality into young people's lives.
The problem it seeks to resolve is the decline in youth participation in the Church and the Church's difficulty in effectively using digital spaces as a means of evangelisation. It aims to address the shortage of appropriate resources and the lack of specific digital skills among young people to effectively witness to the faith.
The aim of this initiative is to promote a more active and qualified participation of young people in digital environments, enhancing them as privileged spaces for evangelisation. The goal is to create an integrated culture of digital evangelisation, strengthening young people's connection to the Church and enriching society through the coherent and dynamic witness of young people's faith.
The main target audience is young people aged 18 to 25 who already use the digital environment regularly and have a particular interest in digital communication and evangelisation.
The activities to be carried out will be training courses in MOOC format to train young people to be digital evangelisers. It is also intended to produce a publication with the aim of disseminating the theoretical reflection produced, to encourage new similar initiatives. Logistical and financial support is also planned for young people with the greatest aptitude for expanding online evangelising initiatives.
Finally, it is hoped that young people will acquire advanced skills in digital evangelisation, making new resources available and better integrating digital practices into traditional Church initiatives. It is intended that these young people will become leaders and references in the responsible and effective use of digital platforms, strengthening local communities and promoting a relevant dialogue with today's culture.
The project proposes a program of formation and financial support for selected young individuals interested in creating Catholic digital content based in Spain. Led by the partner organization Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture in Barcelona, it aims to minimize financial barriers, allowing creators to focus on their content and to professionalize their digital content creation skills while providing a foundation in Catholic teachings.
The program will also foster a supportive environment for creators to connect, collaborate, and engage in activities aligned with the Church’s mission which will be developed at the URL-Blanquerna School of Communication and International Relations uniting Youth from Portugal and Spain.
